Outward

Despite his diminutive stature, Vysenys boasts an oppressive and imposing presence. The presence of royalty, of a Queen. There's a striking beauty to him characteristic to the blood of the dragon; gilt diadem shining atop silver-golden hair and acid-toned, burning violet eyes watch imperiously from an ornate throne.

Inward

He never forgets a slight, real or imagined. He takes caution for cowardice and dissent for defiance. And he is greedy. Greedy for power, for honor, for love.

Self-centered, temperamental, and prone to fits of cruelty and rage, Vysenys is hardly the last person you'd expect at the helm of Mazura. He's rather childish, with a mischievous streak, and oft caught up in hissy fits of all sorts of what-have-yous. Very quick to anger, the queen is very sensitive to criticism or any insult to himself. Spiteful and selfish, Vysenys doesn't much like sharing what's his; and has a penchant for destroying things so others may not have it. The young ruler is remarkably irresponsible, he likes the position of leading though doesn't do much of the hard work that follows such position at all, preferring to shirk it off onto people deemed more capable. Despite his overwhelming arrogance however, Vysenys tends to struggle with feelings of inadequacy, a bygone from his youth under his harsh father's mentoring; usually these feelings are brought about by societal pressures and expectations, or jealousy and envy towards others.He can seem sweet at first, but once you really get to know him, you know you’re asking for trouble. Though he is charming with an intense air of glamor about him, Vysenys is vain and self-involved. He's aware of his conventionally attractive physique to a certain degree, and often may resort to using his beauty to get what he wants out of those of weaker will. He's the cult of personality, easily driven by unquestioning flattery and praise. However, this double-edged sword makes him highly concerned over his appearance and public opinion, especially the opinion of the court. Self-conscious and insecure, despite his outward display of conceit and self-confidence, he's susceptible to caving under pressure and lashes out when it gets to be too much at times.Despite this, he can be tractable and pleasant under certain circumstances, though his deeply distrusting nature often gets in the way and his superficiality can make him seem ingenuine. Vysenys has issues with openly expressing negative emotions and feelings in public-- even within the privacy of his closest confidants-- Such matters often leave him with no real healthy way to express his anger and frustrations, leaving others to be outlets for such explosive reactions. Though, there seems to be at least some innate sweetness to him, as noticed in the way he treats his pet dogs and closest friends; and while he may struggle with empathizing with others, there's still a desire to be vulnerable with the few he trusts on a deeper level; Vysenys is simply an embittered, lonely soul with little to no experience in establishing genuine connections with others.Above all he can be rather naïve. He's unaware of the "real world" outside of the royal court, being so sheltered all his life, and often isn't aware of some of the finer details of certain matters due to his father's strict upbringing. Though where he lacks in worldly knowledge, he makes up for in wiliness and political strategy. Vysenys can be cunning, confident, intelligent and manipulative. He knows quite well how the game of thrones is played, and he sees to moving all of the pieces himself.

Backstory

But every child knows that the Vamerías have always danced too close to madness. Madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin.

Vysenys was born on the fifth day in the month of Vroehm to the dour and harsh King Vytautys Vamería, and the sickly and passive Queen Consort Viserra Vamería, whom was the only remaining living cousin of the king. The crown prince was a lively kitten, strong and healthy, and would be the only child that would live. The royal and ancient House Vamería, unfortunately was on its last legs however, and Vytautys was desperate to keep the bloodline strong and stable.From kithood and into adolescence, Vysenys became a spoiled mercurial little thing. Prone to envy and self-entitlement, the young prince was a force to be reckoned with-- and still is. His mother indulged his every wish and whim, spoiling the child rotten, as they were far too weak-willed in the face of both their husband and their child.Vytautys was as stubborn as a mule and an ill-tempered man. He was strict and temperamental, and some may even have considered a touch bit cruel. The only emotion he ever seemed to display was anger and disappointment. He wasn't particularly fond of his weakly wife, and found his only molly child to be a bit of a disappointment. Unfortunately any other child Viserra bore died early or in the womb. The sixth attempt of childbirth took Viserra's life when Vysenys was only three and ten years old. He was left to be attended to by his tutors and governesses, his father often absent in the wake of his queen's death.Though, there were the rare moments between father and son, and Vysenys always took his father's lessons to heart. He was oft reminded of his future role, as the sole heir to the royal throne. These constant reminders only served to inflate his spoilt and inflated ego. He was a dragon, and so he will act as one, is a firm belief of his.Vytautys died at the age of one and fifty, when Vysenys was only seven and ten. They were mysterious circumstances, such mysteries kept as a secret from the rest of the court. The king's small council acted shortly as regents in his place, until the short-lived heir was crowned as the Queen of Mazura, the First of His Name, Lord of the Eight Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm.Young and volatile, Vysenys is prone to ostentatiousness and dramatics. Only a Queen in blood and title, the young cat acts far from it at times. The future of the house of the dragon now rests solely on his shoulders, and only time will tell what happens next.

Thoughts

It seems to me that a queen who trusts no one is as foolish as a queen who trusts everyone.
